The Prince Harry

Hello folks, it has been over a year! That’s wild. I thought I’d jump on here and offer some tongue in cheek New Years advice for those aspiring to a dryer January.

I present for your enjoyment, a divine mocktail, that you can probably make with ingredients you already have in your house:

  • Angostura bitters – two dashes
  • Ginger ale
  • A squeeze of lime
  • And a low-ball / whisky glass with a large chunk of ice.

Perfectly delicious, you won’t feel like you’re missing out on anything.

I was originally going to call it a “Bitter Ging” as opposed to a “Vodka or Rye and Ging” as the primary ingredients are bitters and gingerale but my witty wife surpassed me and named it after someone who’s recently skyrocketed in terms of prominence in our social media feeds! Enjoy!

Creative Cocktail #2 – PARC Royale

I openly admit that my first creative cocktail, the Mojtini, is not for everyone. First you have to like rum, albeit good rum, and second you need to be able to handle an extremely potent cocktail.

If you’re a little more faint at heart, my newest libation creation might be for you. I call it the PARC Royale,  and it is downright delicious if I do say so myself.

  • 2 parts Lillet
  • 1 part Luksusowa vodka
  • 1/4 part Grand Marnier
  • 2 splashes of bitters
  • Orange or Lemon rind to garnish

Must be shaken not stirred.

The observant reader will note that though this cocktail doesn’t consist entirely of 40% alcohol, it’s still far from diffused with mix. In defence of my intoxicating concoctions I refer to the wisdom of my late 94 year old granddad, who preferred scotch, and on occasion would half jokingly say, “Remember, it’s the mix that will kill you.”

I challenge you to make yourself a PARC Royale and post your thoughts here after you try it; you won’t be disappointed!

A Sparkling Review for New Year’s

The last couple of posts here at Exploring-Art.com having been awfully philosophical and perhaps not very uplifting. Fear not! We have not thrown the baby out with the bath water. This is still the place for feel good posts, heart felt recommendations and creative encouragement.

With New Year’s eve nearly upon us I feel the need to make a sparkling wine recommendation. Champagne is one of my favourite things, but it is expensive and a lovely Cremant can be equally as good for a fraction of the price. Here’s this year’s Cremant recommendation for a New Year’s not to be forgotten!

Louis Bouillot, Rose, Cremant de Bourgogne is a delicious concoction based on the pinot noir grape. It’s well balanced, with not too much sweetness or acidity, and a gorgeous lingering creme. More importantly it will leave you wanting more, a lot more. It’s a bargain for $25 at your local Canadian liquor store. Have a happy New Year!
